Stripe Micropayments anytime soon?

I'm working on a product I'm calling The Big Tipper. It's a clean and simple way for pop up vendors like street musicians to receive tips. The process is initiated through an sms so the "fans" don't need to have any apps. We respond to the sms with a link to pay via stripe. The problem is the fees. These payments are all small and we will get killed on stripes fees. I have seen some comments from Stripe employees about micropayments pricing coming soon. Anyone know if that will actually happen?
