Hey everyone, I've been struggling with a problem and would really love your insights.
When making small products to your saas(Finance, HRM, Marketing) How would you recommend I structure my URLs.
Should I make a subdomain "finance. brand .com" or buy "Brandfinance .io" for SEO/Support/Traffic if "Brandfinance .com" is already taken?
2 examples I have seen are
Freshworks.com - (buys .IO domains like "freshservices .io", "freshconnect .io", "freshsales .io") they redirect the domains to key site and use individual domains for support and custom domain hosting app ("support @ freshsales .io" and "app. freshsales .io")
Google or Amazon - They host their apps on subdomains ("cloud. google .com", "ads. google .com", "gsuite .google .com") This sounds good as it helps brand the single domain but can create a problem in support and custom domain may not be available.
The former may help in custom branding URLs but can be expensive and painful. The later sounds good but would like to know if someone has tried it successfully.
Sorry for the long post. I would appreciate it if you guys could provide me with your opinion and experience.☺️
Subdomains always. Multiple domains cause confusion and don't follow brand consistency. Also, what happens when you have a few domains following that format, but the next one isn't available?
From an SEO perspective, I've heard some people build landing pages as part of their same website, and then have specific content redirect to the proper subdomain.
For example, google.com/cloud would be the landing page (so it gets ranked higher), and then all links would point to cloud.google.com.
Subdomains give context to domains along with your brand.
Thanks That helps
