Struggle to be organized. Any tips for getting things done?

Im having difficulty organizing myself and following through my plans. I feel like i have tons of things going on in my head, and i switch task frequently, and hard to focus one thing at a time.

I organize my tasks by calendar, and sometimes if i dont finish the task in certain day, i would forget about it. And i find myself having open-ended tasks that are left unfinished.

Any tips on how to get things done?

I've been going back and forth over the last couple of years using various tools, notebooks and systems. But honestly my favorite at the moment is setting up a Trello board for each major project I have going on. Which I make all pop up whenever I open my browser

For each board I simply start with 3 default columns of TODO | DOING | DONE.

Then I make small cards for all the little tasks I need and put them in their respective column.

I find the key to making this actually stick (and be usefull) is not overcomplicating it.
Sometimes I make an extra column or two, often one on the right where I can link to important documents and things I don't want to move around the board, but other than that I follow the KISS "keep-it-simple-stupid" method. Though I'm also a fan of having a column with "Consider doing", which can often be nice to have only to get silly ideas out of my head quickly so I can move on with work.

Now I've even gotten in the habit of always taking one quick glance at the project board im working on before I close the lid on my laptop and make sure to note down any last minute "remember to follow up with that person", or "read this document and make notes on blahblah..."

Not sure if what works for me will actually work for you though, but hopefully it's at least some food for thought!

This is a problem that I'm in the process of completely figuring out myself as I'm looking to start building my own microSaaS, while freelancing and working a 9-5. What's been helping me is just simply writing things down in a planner, with all the things that I want to get done that day listed by priority. Then I categorize certain tasks as "Must do's" and I make sure I get those tasks done for the day. Anything else that carries over I just write out for the next day (that was I don't forget any tasks) and then add any other tasks that I want to get done done and repeat. As a bonus, having to see the same task carry over day-by-day gives me a little extra kick to get it done.

By no way is this a perfect system, but I've realized that writing things down helps me to plan things out a little more, organize my thoughts, and most importantly prioritize what needs to get done. And keeping track of tasks that carry over each day helps me to not forget anything.

I like your idea of organizing tasks by calendar though, which is probably the next step I need to take after prioritizing what needs to get done.

Hope this helps! Power to the local dreamer.
