Struggling with design - tips anyone?
Hey everyone! Been struggling with colour palettes and font combinations for landing pages of my new app. Does anyone have any tips or resources to recommend to speed up the learning curve?
Context: Im a veeery amateur designer but have been spending some time this week designing my landing page and doing some wire framing of my new web app (HR tech). Been using Flux on Youtube and design accounts on Instagram to learn mostly.

Props to you for trying to learn and design your own. I am a designer myself and also teach other people design. One thing that helps is looking at a lot of inspirations for landing pages in your field. It's always good to build up your own visual library and see what other ppl are using in terms of fonts and color.

Hello, I have been struggling with design lately. I can say that you should try to look for inspiration on the internet. I'd say Behance and Pinterest are my go-to's in terms of looking for design inspirations.

I'm also self-taught and it can be so tough to know 'what's good' at first! Biggest tip would be just absorb as much visual material as you can right now. Sign up to things like Muzli, Designspiration, GraphicBurger or Invision's Inside Design newsletter to see lots of overviews of what's happening in the world of design right now. Block a little bit of time every day to just absorb.
The more you see, the more you'll start getting a natural feel for things that work together, and find tools that help you streamline those thoughts. Ultimately design isn't really about theory, so just so 'see' as much as you can! Looking at vintage advertising is also a great place to see some of the fundamentals.
Always remember, the difference between design and fine art is that when you're designing, you're solving a problem, not just making something look nice.

With color palettes, I find it a lot easier using a CSS library with an already predefined palette like the one that's in tailwindCSS. They usually go well together, I usually just pick one or two accent colors. I used it for my side project foxyapps.co.
Otherwise, I also like to browse popular palettes on color.adobe.com/explore or coolors.co and just pick what I like and think would be suitable for that particular project. Or dribbble.com - you can copy the pallette directly from the shot if you like the color scheme.
For fonts, I like to go to fonts.google.com, I input a sample phrase - the name of the project or the main tagline - and I scroll and see what gives me the right vibe 😀
