Subdomain and SEO - bad idea?
I have my project available on a subdomain, mostly because I didn't see a reason to give its own domain and I like the simplicity of only managing a root domain. I own the root domain and its basically just a couple technical blog posts.
I'm wondering now if my project will take an SEO hit if I keep it on a subdomain. The users probably don't care, but if the search engines do its obviously a big deal. Are there penalties for subdomains?
**I am not an SEO expert. The SEO will not take a hit. Earlier Googlebot used to see sub-domains are separate web property. Now you have an option in the Google search console to define web properties.
