I am looking to start a newsletter around building software in general and the ideas and technology behind my app Jax, a chatbot that teaches programming, in particular. I subscribe to many Substack based newsletters but was curious if anyone has any experience with Twitter's Revue.
As a heavy Twitter user, I was tempted to give Revue a try but was curious if people had any thoughts on it.
I've been using Revue for over a year and I like it. But the platform still has the major, longstanding issues @karngyan mentioned. Revue said they'll work on
httpssupport but there are no updates. Here's my 2 cents on Revue.
I have been using revue for the past month. (https://email.karngyan.email)
Pros.
Cons.
I guess they're working on these.
Erm if DKIM and SPF are set-up and pass, then DMARC would be aligned.
Do you mean you just can't set-up DMARC inside of Substack?
I have been using Revue for the past 6 weeks for running my newsletter.
I evaluated all the top names and I chose Revue mainly because of it's clipper feature that easily allows me to curate for each week. It was so much easier to build a system around it.
I tried Substack too, it felt more like a blog and it seemed redundant to the blog I already have.
I’ve published 2 issues on Revue and have decided I’ll have moved up to something more custom probably before I’ve published 10. It’s quick and easy to get started, but the editing and reading experience feel so subpar to me. Can’t really compare to Substack because I haven’t tried it, but as a reader I feel a bit bored with so many Substack newsletters looking exactly the same.
Another thing to consider is that you have a Twitter audience. Now that Twitter owns Revue, you can bet they’ll be working on some interesting integrations.
so, I guess the limitation that you're concerned about is visual design? In that case, have you looked at Ghost?
I think that's the direction I'm going in, here's some more context: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/how-our-customer-migrated-from-substack-to-wordpress-and-10x-ed-his-audience-5677352884?commentId=-MVSI0mRiLUOE-0OvDe1
