Successfully cold emailing reporters for writeups?

I recently launched an app (getstreamkit.com) and I was thinking of trying to reach out to reporters in the space to get something written up about it.

I have a list of 3 reporters that wrote up an article about a competitor, however, the competitor is owned by Intel so have an easier time getting the press to write something about them.

Has anyone had any success cold emailing a reporter for press? Any advice you can offer? Thanks!
