Teeny retro:
So, one week in to working without a formal boss and I have a couple of observations.
1.) I like freelance in general. There is actually always work available for a coder, so this jump shouldn't feel as bad. That may feel like jumping the shark on that judgment but I've been getting contracts for months, my jump from full time employment was simply a shift from passive bidding to actively going for a full schedule.
2.) the fact that I like freelance has the potential to derail product/project work. This is a balance I'll have to work out. On the one hand, I could fill my schedule to the point that I don't have a choice but to raise my rates, which would increase my income potential. On the other, filling my schedule detracts from work on projects that are intended to be lifestyle businesses.
3.) and if I had a third hand, I've always seen the potential for growing my freelance stuff into an agency model, and I think it would be fun. Stressful but fun. Doing so however, would mean setting aside projects with real potential until I can get the agency off the ground.

I think I'm going to continue on AutomatedAPI, mostly because I think once it's running I can still make the agency thing work, but with less stress...assuming I still like that option once I know what AA will do.
