Super Serve vs Give Value

There are two phrases that I hear a lot, but don't care too much for.
"Niche Down" and "Give Value"

For some reason these two phrases don't sit with me well. Maybe because, to me, they are unactionable.

I'd rather Serve a specific audience, than niche down.

"Niching Down" sounds bad.

"Being specific" seems like table stakes.

Who do you serve?

And that's where "give value" comes in.

To whom do you give value?

Who do you do what you do for? I wrote about "For" here

Give Give Give.

Okay Okay Okay.

Sure Sure Sure.

But so what?

If I think about it as serving, it hits. I can do that.

Giving Value means I have to manifest this "value" from somewhere. and I don't think of myself as "valuable".

But serving is simple.

And if I serve a specific person, just like a waiter, I ask them what they want.

Words are hard and dealing with the full context of each person....
I'd still say you have to give valuable service, not just service...
It's very easy to do very low value work and provide very low value service...
The value part is important as you rather give something work 3c than 1c.
And the interpretation of value must include a 2nd person or more, like a price, which means it can't be just valuable to you, it must be to the other person.
Than we can get into low value in high quantity or higher value in lower quantity.. but the value part has to be there...

Niching Down advice is derived from people either over valuing or being in loved with their own creating, saying "this is for everyone", look at it, I can't believe someone would not want it... And of people reaching to broad to do useful things or have meaningful focused engagements.
While the ultimate niching down is looking at one person like you imply it's also a risk as the part of the quantity mentioned before...

This is a way to look at value that I find useful

How about instead of "giving" value one strives to provide value?

no matter if you give, provide, or leave value on the table for someone to pick up... It's the value part that gives me pause. To me it matters the person more than what I'm giving them. If I think of it as service to someone... then it clicks for me. It's simpler to actually hold and feel and provide.
