Support Indie Maker Projects

I see a lot of my friends and indie maker colleagues who have interesting indie projects but aren't always getting a lot of visibility. I recently started adding projects I'm interested in to my website: https://www.krazier.com/indie-projects/ so that I can keep track of them and so I have a central place for people to find them as well.

I decided to make it a bit more "official" and created a Twitter account to start growing a indie maker community around it, you can find that here: https://twitter.com/SupportMakers

I'm not sure where this will go long-term, but thought I'd share to see just how much support we can give our fellow indie makers.

I also have a public board that you can add your own #indie projects to over here: https://www.retrospect.team/board/24-4-2019-f907f553-dced-432c-8e95-06350c30eb5c-10-22-19

*** UPDATE ***
If you could answer these questions when you post, and add any other interesting information, that would be helpful / interesting.

  • How old is your project?
  • So what are your biggest issues you are struggling with?
  • What would help you the most?
  • Who is your ideal customer?
  • What are you most "unsure" of regarding the project?
  • How have you tried getting visitors / customers?
  • Monthly Unique visitors?

      Thanks for your support!

    Good idea Micah.

Seems that board has grown quite a bit now

    1. 1

Yeah, slowly but surely. I hope it gets even bigger!

    Nice idea Micah!

Maybe you can check here as well, I've recently asked similar question. Mine was side projects done for fun but I saw a lot of them that are more than that

Your post is an interesting version as well, I have been in the mindset of "make something for fun and figure out how to monetize it at some point." Rather than just "make something for fun."

That's a great initiative, Micah. I followed you on twitter and would be surely be adding Designtack to the list as well.

    1. 2

Thanks, we all struggle to grow as indie makers, but yet there doesn't seem to be a solution to help those of us with few resources, small networks and simply lack of skills in certain areas. Hope to give any kind of focus I can to those projects.

      • So what are your biggest issues you are struggling with regarding Designtack?
      • What would help you the most?
      • Who is your ideal customer?
      • What are you most "unsure" of regarding the project?
      • How have you tried getting visitors / customers?
      1. 1

I can relate to that because, Designtack is my first Saas and I am learning as I am going with it.

        1. Getting people onboard to try it out and give feedback, so that I can improve as I go.
        2. I guess, More traction? Because I need people to try and tell if they like the product.
        3. Marketers, Content creators, or anyone who wants to create large content in quick time.
        4. If the amount of people who showed interest are ACTUALLY using it or not.
        5. I did the usual such as PH launch, I was logging the journey here as well, shared with the audience on my personal twitter and also, emailed those who opted in the beta or came through landing page opt-in.

        Thank you.

Thanks for the info, I have created a board of notes you can review. The notes are quite high level, but tries to give some global feedback that can be updated. See the board here: https://www.retrospect.team/board/3-7-2020-0e67c1c2-d203-4688-bb98-9f1433910e68-10-48-47

Very helpful! Thank you for sharing.

  5. 1

Great idea! I try to support fellow makers where I can.

Looking forward to adding my app in a few weeks.

    1. 2

Excited to see what you have cooking up.

  6. 1

Thanks Micah. I'm happy to have added @Amezmo to the list.

    1. 1

Glad to hear you like the idea, hope I can make something useful for makers.

Regarding Amezmo, what are some of your thoughts on these questions...

      • How old is your project?
      • So what are your biggest issues you are struggling with?
      • What would help you the most?
      • Who is your ideal customer?
      • What are you most "unsure" of regarding the project?
      • How have you tried getting visitors / customers?
      • Monthly Unique visitors?

what does it take to list our web app in there, https://conferfly.com

    1. 1

Thanks for posting, I'm not 100% sure on what the requirements will be. Right now it's just been people I know and projects I'm interested in. I do know I don't want to post any and every project, that would be overwhelming and basically another Product Hunt.

The original thought would be 1-2 person team sizes, been working on the project for quite a while and simply can't get traction.

I certainly don't have time or interest to add every project that people send me, which is why I have the public board where anyone can list their projects: https://www.retrospect.team/board/24-4-2019-f907f553-dced-432c-8e95-06350c30eb5c-10-22-19

      Some other questions...

      Cheers!
