I’ve been sending my weekly newsletter Salt Sear Savor for a little over a year now. (If you enjoy cooking or want to improve your skills, please check it out!)
But I want to get to know my subscribers better. They’ve grown beyond just being friends and family. And as a designer, I know how crucial it is to understand your “users”.
So I was wondering if anyone has experience surveying their subscribers? Or do you know of any articles written about it? I’ve got ideas for so many questions, but I figured I start with doing some research from people smarter than me. Just in case anyone has felt like they’ve figure out some great questions to ask, I could just steal from their good ideas :)
Thanks!
I find keeping things short and simple work best.
If you want the most respondents, ask them to reply to your email with their answers, instead of sending them to a survey tool (there will be drop-offs if you require them to click and fill in another form).
Here are some ideas:
What are you hoping to achieve from my emails?
Have you achieved that? If yes, how have my emails helped you? If no, how can I improve my emails?
What is your biggest challenge with [achieving desired result]?
I’m so sorry! For some reason I never saw this comment.
Thank you so much for the advice. I really appreciate it. I love the idea of just asking people to reply to the email. To be honest, I’ve tried that a couple of times and haven’t had a ton of luck. I had a smaller subscriber count at the time though. So maybe I’ll have more luck now!
And those are great questions! I like them.
Only a tiny % of subscribers will reply, so you'll need a decent amount to get those replies.
Makes sense! Thank you!
I have this mental block to ask questions. So I built an AI-powered question generator within my product BlockSurvey. Here is a sample screenshot. https://imgur.com/a/IlM3AEG
It is free to use. Give it a try!
I’ll check it out thank you!
