SyncClip – a no‑login, ephemeral clipboard bridge between phone and PC

SyncClip (https://syncclip.in) is a clipboard bridge that lets you pass OTPs, 2FA codes, and code snippets between phone and PC without logging in or leaving a permanent cloud trail.

Why I built this:

I kept emailing myself passwords and 2FA codes, pasting SSH snippets into DMs, and treating my inbox as a clipboard dump. That turned “transient” data into permanent cloud artifacts. If your email or cloud account is ever breached, an attacker can reconstruct your 2FA usage patterns and dev‑ops behavior.

So I started experimenting with a different philosophy: Transience > Storage for one‑time‑use data.

What SyncClip does:

- No login, no email, no account.

- Real‑time sync via WebSocket between any OS (Web, Android, iOS, PC, Mac).

- Ephemeral snippets: data is only readable once (burn‑after‑reading), no history.

- You pair devices with a short room code or QR.

The idea is simple: your clipboard should be a bridge, not a warehouse.

How it’s built (briefly):

- Frontend: lightweight JS + WebSocket client.

- Backend: WebSocket gateway that routes ephemeral messages between devices.

- Data model: tombstoned entities that self‑destruct after one read.

- No persistent per‑user storage, no clipboard history.

This is a deliberate trade‑off:

- You lose “searchable history” and “multi‑device sync forever.”

- You gain:

- No‑account friction.

- No permanent cloud trail.

What I’m looking for:

This is a side project, and I’m treating it as a live experiment. I’d love feedback on:

- What you’d keep or remove from the UX.

- What security/privacy trade‑offs you’d accept (or refuse) in a clipboard tool like this.

- If you’d actually use this instead of your current “clipboard dump” workflow (email, DMs, Slack, etc.).

If you want to try it:
