Tab Privacy while sharing screens

Hi everyone,

I am working on a solution, which will allow users to hide and show private tabs in one click. Private tabs are tabs that are expected to be hidden while the user is sharing a screen with someone. The user can make a complete domain as a private or specific URL.

Motivation: I have many times seen spending a good amount of time, to make sure that all my private tabs are closed before I start sharing my screen. As a developer, I have mistakenly shown a private tab while doing the screen share. which is not good. Every time I start screen share, I have to be more conscious.
And when the screen share is done, I also want to go back to my private stuff, I was working on.
This was the challenge I have been facing. So thought of solving it, by creating a solution

Will you use a product like the one mentioned above?
  1. Yes, It is much needed
  2. Yes, but very occasionally as the use-case is rare.
  3. May Be

Wondering why you don't reduce the browser with all your private tabs into your dock and utilize a second "just for the presentation" browser instance?

If most things you can share just a window in place of a screen, so you open a new browser just for the share.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes you are right but as a developer i have to work on many things at the same time hence many tabs. Screen sharing with fellow team mates requires more than 1 tab to be shared e.g 4 tabs or more.
In that case , just opening a new browser with all those tabs open will take some effort.
      Thanks

        Opening 4 tabs vs
        Finding a specialised app
        Installing and trusting the app
        Paying for an app?

Your trying to solve 4 sec of work with a 3rd party? I don't get it

Thanks I appreciate your feedback. And there will be no payments.its a browser extension.

As with a lot of folks these days, have some experience with remote calls for work so can share some thoughts. Happy to have a call to give feedback on this if it'll help. I'm trying out half-an-hour calls with IndieHackers to trade feedback. Give me a shout at [email protected] if you want to schedule a call.
