Taking care of myself

"I've always used my fear as my power. It comes from my family of origin. Fear in my chaotic home environment made me really good at handling things. So that's super well developed for me — pushing myself and achieving and getting shit done from a place of fear. What's not so well developed is, like, 'What's going on for me? What needs do I have right now?' It has always been hard for me to listen to myself instead of just overriding what's going on internally and handling my environment. But there is an authentic source of drive and power that's just like, loving life and loving making an impact and loving yourself. Like, the other week, our first employee started and he was crushing it. I was just getting back from this retreat in Colorado and I was exhausted. My confidence was at like 8% and I was like, 'Man, I gotta make sure this guy doesn't show me up. I'm the CEO.' But I just sat down and did some journaling, asking myself, 'What would unconditional self-love look like?' And it basically produced a to-do list for the next day and a half, with sleep being at the top. One of the things I actually wrote down was, 'Let go of getting things done and let the power come back to me naturally.' So I just took care of myself — and it did."⠀
