Hey y'all,
I've been struggling with trying to position my service for podcasters so that it sells itself. Basically, it's a phone number where people call to leave voice comments/questions.
For your podcast for example, you are probably distributing it across a bunch of different podcast apps. So right now, if you want to take questions from your listeners or invite them to discuss the episode, you're going to tell them to go to your website to leave questions/comments, or send you an email or something.
My phone numbers are an alternative to that, kind of like how radio stations tell their audience to call in, you can ask your podcast listeners to call in for discussion/questions.
I created a landing page dedicated for podcasters that I sent out to a few people, but the benefits didn't seem to click for them. So I've updated the page and was hoping to get feedback from you all before I reach out to more people. This is the new landing page.
So 2 questions:
Is the new landing page clearly positioned as a tool to take questions and comments from listeners?
If the value of podcast comments isn't compelling, would repositioning it as a tool to get social proof with voice testimonials sound interesting to you?
Thanks
Edit: So per the advice so far, if anyone is willing to do a customer interview it would help me out a lot and I'd be happy to extend a couple months of free service in exchange.
Hey!
Awesome product, I think the idea is sound. Here's my constructive feedback.
"Turn longtime listeners into first time callers" is a catchy sentence but I'm not sure if it communicates your value propersition well.
Have you done any potential user interviews?
Try to test the idea and concept with a podcast and see what the user experience is like. Sometimes the potential user is the best person to describe the product back to you. Then use this information as copy for your landing page.
Read The Mom Test by Rob Fitzpatrick, it'll help with asking the right questions.
Good luck!
Thanks for the input Mukhtar. I haven't done user interviews but I definitely will. And having them explain it back to me makes perfect sense.
I've seen the Mom Test recommended multiple times, it's time I see what all the hype is about.
Awesome! I hope it goes really well for you!
Halfway through The Mom Test and dude... 🤯 Can't way to start asking questions and deflecting compliments!
OMG! I love how quick you've jumped onto that haha! It's powerful isn't it?
It's honestly a game changer for me. I feel like customers have lied to me my entire entrepreneurial journey, but now I have the tools to defend against it and really build something valuable instead of building something people think sounds cool.
That's honestly amazing to hear. I wish you all the success with your project! Give me a shout if you need any help
Pretty cool idea! Your forum post here did a better job of explaining what the product is and why I would want it than your landing page did.
Just a few comments
As mooraage mentioned, definitely start reaching out to potential users. I think the idea has potential if you can find podcasters willing to pay for the service.
Thanks for checking it out and leaving me some great feedback Jeremy.
I'm still unclear what podcasters care about so that lack of clarity is reflected on the landing page. Hopefully after some customer conversations I'll be able to narrow it down.
Looks like simplifying the pricing page/model and the about page will go a long way in cutting down on the confusion. I initially built the service as a way to help politicians hear from constituents, but they didn't show a lot of interest, and there is a lot of red tape about what their offices can pay for so it was a non-starter. Then I focused on political campaigns, and while they are a bit more flexible with what they can spend money on, I'm coming to terms with the fact that politicians aren't typically early adopters of new tech, but are more in the early majority/late majority group because there are less unknowns for them at that point.
I believe the applications for the product are very broad, but as it stands I think I'm gonna focus 100% on the podcast comments angle and see where that takes me instead of trying to do multiple things at once. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush as they say. And so far, getting in contact with podcasters vs politicians has been significantly easier.
