"Talk to customers" is the tattoo I'll get if it turns out "sales solves all problems" doesn't look good on my lower back 😉
Totally need to start a 'what tattoo would you get?' thread!
The difficulty isn't in talking to customers - there are so many tools for it these days, whether it's a Skype chat, Typeform survey or Hotjar feedback tab on your website.
The difficult is in working out what's useful from that feedback/chat, prioritising that against your own strategy and often actually finding out the root problem they're having.
I would say how you talk to your customers can make that second part, figuring out what is useful, a lot easier.
Focus on their pains. Ask them what bugs them. What is hard. What takes too much time. If your product doesn't solve those pains, maybe change the product or change who you are talking to.
How to talk to customer if you do not have customers?
When I do not have customers for a product, I talk to potential customers.
Talk to people who might be your customers.
Can you make a list of 10 people who you think should use your product? If you can't, you are not focused enough, or you don't know what you are really building.
Talk to the people you want to become your customers.
What strategy would you recommend to talk to customers? For example, email, advertising, etc?
Start small. Write a list of 10 people who should use your product. Like actually names of people you actually know. If you don't know them personally, find them on LinkedIn, Twitter or forums.
Talk to them.
