Tane Planner — A Lightweight Personal Project Management Tool

Tane Planner as a simple way to manage personal projects and tasks without the complexity of a full project management platform.

It is a lightweight HTML app with:

  • Project and task management

  • Task hierarchy and subtasks

  • Drag-and-drop task ordering

  • Gantt chart with Day, Week, and Month views

  • Task progress tracking

  • JSON import and export

  • No installation or account required

The app runs directly in a web browser, with project data stored locally.

OK I have to say — the fact that this whole Gantt chart thing runs in a browser with zero install actually blew my mind a little haha. That's pretty cool. Quick question: what made you go with the "mini tools on a portal" strategy instead of picking one and going deep? I feel like I'm gonna hit that crossroads soon (right now I'm just pushing a Word Counter update with basically zero users, but the question is coming). Also love that you're open sourcing the approach — not every maker is like this. Would love to see what you build next!

Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate it. For me, the mini tools on a portal approach is intentional. I want Codoh to be a place where I can build and release small, practical tools for different everyday problems. As a solo founder, I prefer keeping each tool focused and lightweight rather than building one large product that requires a lot of time and energy to maintain. My philosophy is simple: Build small. Ship fast. Grow only when needed. Each tool has its own purpose, and the portal brings them together under one place. I can keep creating new tools, improve existing ones, and learn from real usage along the way. I believe there's room for both approaches. Some makers go deep with one product, while Codoh is built around creating a collection of useful, focused tools.
