Task Extraction Tool: Build our own task management or integrate with Jira/Trello?

Hey IHers,
Right now my tool can automatically extract tasks from meeting videos and display them in a simple checklist UI. It’s been super helpful for turning discussions into actionable items without manual note-taking.

But here’s my dilemma:
While the extraction part works great, my tool isn’t yet a powerhouse in task management like Jira, Trello, or Asana. I’m at a crossroads — should I:

  1. Integrate with existing platforms (Jira, Trello, ClickUp, etc.) so teams can instantly sync extracted tasks into their workflow?

  2. Build my own full task management system — giving users an all-in-one experience from meeting to task tracking without leaving the app?

I can see pros and cons for both:

  • Integration → Faster to deliver, users keep their existing tools, less friction to adopt.

  • Own system → More control over UX, potentially more value in the long term, but will take more time to build and compete with established players.

If you were building this product (or using it), which path would you choose and why?
