Team trivia battles during COVID-19
Hi guys - I run an adtech sales team out of NYC, and with everyone working from home during Coronavirus, it's hard to establish team camaraderie. We did a few Zoom happy hours, but watching each other drink a beer was pretty lame.
So a developer and I built a very basic, FREE trivia site to play against each other (built in Laravel). I would love if you could check it out and provide your feedback!
My colleagues and I have had a fun time with it, and we're now playing with clients as a way to engage. Thanks for your help! Hope it's fun!
The first thing I'd change is don't redirect a game to a naked IP. Sending your friends links to naked IPs is a big no-no in my opinion.
Thanks, jwa! What's the reason that this is the top of your list? I realize it's better to have it on a subdomain and I will do that - I just haven't received the feedback yet and had it somewhat low on my list of priorities.
As a techy I know that a naked IP is usually a quick and dirty hack to make it work. But you lose the ability of having multiple virtual hosts on the domain.
A non tech person would think this is scary and you want to hack me or worse!
had I not just started another company I would have worked on this trend. Long-distance hangouts are here to stay. I'd love to help out (&/or be involved) in some shape or form.
I played with my mom - but as we're Swedish - the trivia was a bit non-engaging. But I'd say my main feedback would be:
Competition
See what the other person responds. And indicate with some color or similar who is right and wrong.
Create emotions
Work with copy and desing to stir up emotions in some way. Perhaps "Player x was this much faster than you, loser."
This is great feedback - thank you! I especially like the competition idea. And yeah - sorry, probably not very good for Swedish culture. One future idea is I'd like to have different topics (ie Star Wars, science, etc). Thanks again!
