Tech co-founder available — 8+ years Lead Engineer, ex-CTO, looking for a co-founder

Hi IH — I’m Mustapha, a Lead Software Engineer & tech co-founder with 8+ years building product-grade platforms (APIs, SaaS, e-commerce). I’m looking for a co-founder (biz/PM/ops/marketing) to launch an indie hacker project together.

What I bring

Technical leadership: built large API platforms, high traffic systems, and serverless products.

Stack: Node.js, Nest/Express, React, GraphQL/REST, AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS), MariaDB/DynamoDB.

Startup experience: co-founder/CTO roles, launched SaaS & e-commerce, won e-commerce innovation awards.

Growth & ops: SEO, digital marketing, shipping MVPs and iterating fast.

Practical: I code, deploy, monitor, and handle infra — I’m not just “technical advisor.”

What I’m looking for

A co-founder who owns product, go-to-market, and business decisions (founder/PM/marketing/sales).

Someone driven to ship an MVP, iterate with users, and scale. Equity split and structure negotiable.

Prefer early stage idea or problem space identified (but I can help refine).

Preferred collaboration

Remote-first, async-friendly, weekly syncs.

Real commitment: at least part-time to start, moving to full-time as traction grows.

    Hi Mustapha,

I read your post and your builder mindset, async-first style, and hands-on technical ownership really resonated with me.

I’m working on a US-centric marketplace project built around a premium, category-defining domain. The direction is very execution-focused: validation first, Stripe-based flows, and clean unit economics — not a side project or experiment.

I’m intentionally looking for a technical co-founder/operator who wants clear ownership and to take an early but well-defined product to its next stage, rather than starting from a blank idea.

If you’re open, I’d prefer to start by exchanging context asynchronously here in writing and see if there’s alignment before anything else.

    Best,
    Tim

Great to see someone with deep technical experience and real startup leadership open to a co-founder partnership — having someone who actually ships MVPs and handles production-grade systems is a rare find in this group.

One thing I’ve noticed in early co-founder dynamics is that early alignment on outcomes and first traction signals (like a specific KPI or user behavior to optimize early) can make collaboration much smoother from day one. For example, setting an early target such as “first 100 engaged users in X weeks” helps shape both product and go-to-market sequencing.

Curious — in your ideal first MVP, what core validation metric or signal are you thinking about first (e.g., sign-ups, first paid conversion, feature adoption)? That often helps potential partners see where they can add the most value.

Hey Mustapha — your post really resonated with me, and I think our skill sets line up in a very complementary way.

Quick intro: I’m a trades professional (electrician by trade) with deep experience in contractor workflows, bidding, materials, and field operations. I’ve identified a major pain point in the industry that’s still largely underserved, and I’m working on an AI-assisted solution that tackles it. The problem space is significant, very real, and something I deal with daily.

I’m intentionally keeping the specifics high-level publicly, but I have a clear direction, roadmap, and strong insight into what the MVP needs to accomplish. What I’m looking for is exactly the type of partnership you described — someone who can own the technical side (build, infra, deployment, iteration) while I handle product direction, real-world validation with contractors, go-to-market, and business execution.

Your background in API platforms, SaaS, and shipping MVPs quickly is exactly what I need to bring this idea to life. I handle the industry, customer discovery, and growth side; you’d own the technical foundation and have real influence over the product.

If this sounds aligned, I’d love to connect and share more details privately. Happy to jump on a call if you're open to it.

Hey, thanks a lot for your message — really appreciate the clarity and the industry insight you bring. The problem space sounds real and underserved, and I definitely like the complementarity between our roles.

Before we go deeper, I want to align expectations on one point:
I’m looking for a CTO co-founder role with equity, but also with a small initial compensation (even part-time) to ensure sustainable commitment during the build phase.

It doesn’t need to be full salary — just enough stability to allow me to focus and move fast.
If that’s something you have budget for, I’d be very happy to continue the conversation and dive into the details of the problem, the roadmap, and how we can execute 0→1 together.

Let me know what’s possible on your side, and we can set up a call.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
      Mustapha

Hi, I don’t have a concrete idea yet — I’m looking for a co-founder with a business/product background to explore opportunities together. I’m open to brainstorming and refining ideas as a team, and I can contribute fully on the technical side to bring the product to life.

Hey, thanks for reaching out. I’m open to exploring ideas together, but just to align expectations: I’m looking for a CTO co-founder role with equity and a small initial compensation to ensure sustainable commitment during the build phase.

If that’s something that could fit your vision, I’d be happy to continue the conversation and brainstorm potential directions.

      Best,

Hi, do you have an idea already? Or are you looking for someone with an idea?

    1. 1

Hey! I’m open to both — exploring ideas together or joining someone who already has a validated concept.
Just to align expectations upfront: I’m looking for a CTO co-founder role with equity plus a small initial compensation to keep things sustainable during the build phase.

If that fits what you’re looking for, happy to chat further.
