Tech stack for discussion board

I want to build a discussion board for a community of around 10k users. The UI should be at least as beautiful as Indiehackers' or even better. I thought I will learn a lot by building this from scratch. I have 3 choices:

Using ember.js (the same front-end framework used by IH) but use django for the backend (instead of the Rails-based framework used by IH). I am proficient in python but not at all with javascript. Your thoughts?
Use a low-code/nocode platform to build the discussion board.
My project is for a not-for-profit and I am spending out of my own pocket. So I have to keep expenses as low as possible. The compute cost at Digital Ocean is 5$/month for 1GB RAM compute instance. Is it a good idea to settle for discourse? instead of having to learn a new framework namely ember.js

Say something nice to mbkv…

Don't build, get a ready made discussion board
That's if your a hacker/trying to do biz
And not just learn coding

If you want to learn coding with it, contribute to an open source platform that does it, much better experience to learn
