Pieter Levels is shutting down his AI therapy app, TherapistAI, four months after its explosive launch on Twitter back in April. He cited a lack of growth and added, "I could see this maybe work if it becomes more advanced like create a therapy plan, but it'd take a lot of work."
Wow, I can't believe he is shutting it down. I wonder if it's costing him more than $1.5K per month to run it.
He's not shutting it down because it's too expensive, but because it's too risky to run. "Therapist" is a regulated term. You usually need a license to call yourself a therapist, as opposed to a life coach, because therapists can give medical and mental health advice. So he's opening himself up to legal liability by running this app.
And, I guess, $1500 ist not worth his time. ;)
