Great topic! We are currently running a separate blog on a website (using Wordpress). It aims to attract more organic traffic from search. We'll post articles there first, then duplicate on IH, Dev, Medium, etc. Hopefully this will work.
@getscreen, is it related strictly to your product or more general one (i.e. About technologu you are using building your product)?
This will be a general topic blog, but with native advertising for our product
Write on your personal blog and syndicate it to other sites like medium/dev.to etc.
This way you will retain the control over your content and get engagement from these sites as well. If medium or similar service becomes your primary platform it becomes painful to transition later. Also medium doesn't works properly with js disabled and i am seeing more and more developers disabling js while accessing the content. Since they are your primary audience your reach is limited by going with medium.
Wow, I'm sort of surprised that there are users who disable js.
I really like this "syndication" approach. This is what I was the most worry about, is to get tied with one platform. Great advice! Do you have to link in some "special" way to not get punished by search engine bots?

What does your SaaS do? Do you have a technical crowd? Marketing by engineering is a valid approach.
It's analytics without blocking (adblocking) related. I'm setting up analytics for my landing by myself, so I learn a lot of stuff, which I can write about. However, I can also write non-analytics related tech challenges I was able to tackle. Do you think this will be useful for the product promotion anyhow?

I use a self-hosted Ghost for my personal blog. If I were to start one today I'd probably just use some markdown / static site generator as I like to write in my text editor.
If the posts are relevant to how you're building the SaaS I'd say it makes sense. If it's completly left field, then maybe not.
For example, I've written about how I use Clojure for my SaaS here and on my personal blog I've written about developing on Linux vs Mac as it has less to do with my SaaS business.

I suggest Medium, since you at least get a little love from the audience already on there (but very little). No setup etc required.
Personal website is another good idea (from @EricBauman), but you might get distracted trying to get eyeballs on your content there rather than your actual business.
Well, sometimes when I tackle tech problem I would like to describe how I did it in detiles for others to benefit. Those are wide tech from dev in JS, K8s or maybe even marketing tricks around SaaS.

Don't forget, if it was on your website you'd have to promote it just the same. But at least with Medium you get a little bit of organic/unpaid attention over time.

I tried using notion with something like super.so, I'd avoid coding or self hosting as much as possible.
As a developer, I've always disliked Wordpress, though I do admit it's probably the easiest way for most people to start using something they control.
Yeah, I don't like WordPress either 😉. I think that's smart to use existing tools though. Will check super.so for sure.
I'd put it on my personal website if I were you. Mix in some stuff that's about your saas and you're on your way to showing people a nice overview of all the things you're working on. A kind of portfolio website, with links to your projects and general tech posts

Perfectly if this could work on my personal brand, where then help me to promote my SaaS work, etc. I'm not a copywriter, and I don't know how to write with SEO in mind. Actually, writing is sort of difficult for me. What I can do, though, is to write tech articles when I figure something out. It doesn't take much of my time and can be helpful for others too.

Those are around startup related tech topics, but very broad technically. I.e. when extending my startup I was struggling with cert-manager configuration for traefic ingress controller, and I spend 4 hours on this I think it might be useful for others having the same issue if I described step-by-step how to do this.
