Tell me if this idea sucks
I'm building a SaaS around the idea that not all podcast interviews need to take 60 minutes out of your day.
Simply put, this would be a platform for hosting an asynchronous podcast.
My main concern is making sure the quality of the content stays high even if done asynchronously.
Would love your thoughts and harshest criticisms.
What would this look like? An email chain? A video version of an email chain? A list of questions for an interviewee to talk about in a monologue? Hard to say whether the idea has merit or not without more clarity. Asynchronous would make it easier for people to interview those that are in very different time zones so that's neat.
Right so it would have all the capacities of a normal podcast hosting platform built in, but the real differentiator is that it would have the ability to send out questions to answer and have a super easy experience to record and share files in a magic link without ever having to login in anywhere. And on the host side, would have a drag and drop sequence editor to make editing the show even easier with no external tools.
My two cents is you can test this model out without building a SaaS and see how it goes. Do hosts like it? Do interviewees like it? If they don't, can you iterate on the process to make it better so that they do like it? You won't have a drag and drop sequence editor, but I think you can get most of the experience you want with existing tools. That should be enough to prove whether the idea could work.
Listeners probably won't care how the content is made so it is all about the creators.

Meaning, what is the pain point you're solving for?
What tools are people currently using that make recording podcasting difficult?
I've used Zoom before to record conversations & video calls, and it does a good enough job to record organic discussions (which many podcasts are fundamentally just that).
