My brother and I recently soft launched the MVP for our app GroupNews. We're doing some validation with beta testers before we start a campaign to attract paying customers.
I'd love to get any feedback on the landing page and site. Is it clear what we're offering? Is the copy and messaging effective? Persuasive? What about the design? Does it seem like it might be a useful platform for its target audience?
Thanks for your perspective!
The visual style of your website looks like a news website, which I'm not sure whether I love in this context. Your product is an app, not a news website.
The logo is cute, I like it a lot.
After reading the front page, I'm not entirely sure how this works. When I read "newsletter", I assume it means an email. But since you just pitched that emails don't work ("Send an email? We all get too much already, and they are easy to miss."), I'm confused as to what is this magical way of commutation that you are trying to sell me.
In the How It Works page, instead of a video, why there isn't some kind of link to view the internal communications of your company? If not the real ones, then sample ones? I'm a busy business owner, I'm not going to watch your 7+ minute Youtube video just for you to tell me how your product works. Show me the product and let me see how it works.
Overall, I think the visual style of your website is rather dull. Everything is dark gray, old cheese green or other shades of gray. Some colorful icons or a bit brighter shade of green would make it look more vibrant.
Your Privacy Policy is really well written. That's a rare thing to see these days, good job!
I like the summary text in your footer that describes your business.
I think I'm in the product's target audience as a business owner, but after reading your website, I'm not entirely sure what your product does. I know what you claim to solve, but I don't exactly know how.
Thanks so much for going through the site, @jv16, your feedback is super valuable! I agree that the positioning of the product needs some tightening up. There is some cognitive dissonance with the news site/app vs. newsletter pitch, which makes it a little unclear about how GroupNews is approaching its intended goals. Your comment about the email nails it. I recently chatted with an established startup founder about it, and he had similar feedback about the focus and positioning. Clearly I have work to do!
I appreciate your comments on the privacy policy, summary, and some of the design aspects. Also, live demos would definitely be very valuable. That's something we've got planned already.
Thanks again!
offering looks clear to me. I see this problem getting solved in organizations via sharepoint/confluence etc. so looks like market is there for this product. One thing that i was not able to get information was attachments. Is there option to add pdf's/docs etc. in newsletters? if yes it would be good to highlight it somewhere.
Thanks for taking a look @pdyc. File sharing isn't a first-class feature of GroupNews in its current form, but we'll probably add that in in some capacity along the way.
I'm an software engineer by training, by no means any sort of designer but here's a couple of things that stuck out to me:
There's a lot of copy that's all very close together and my initial reaction was a feeling of being overwhelmed. I think the copy makes sense, I would look at focusing it a little and adding some more negative space
You have this line just below the fold
I would consider a version of this to replace
To me, it describes the value proposition more clearly.
Overall, beautify site. Just a couple of copy related tweaks from my perspective
Thanks for the feedback, @mikeluby! There is definitely a lot of copy there, and there is opportunity to tighten it up and add some space to allow it to breath a bit more.
