Tell me what you think of this MVP

I recently built this MVP to help my kids learn how to read English. The text books over here (in China) are not very good so I adopted a phonics based approach - it worked on my kids :) Would be good to see what others think.

Hi Chris, I don’t have an iPhone, so just some design tips:

Using multiple saturated colors together is often problematic – the eye has a hard time deciding what is most important.
I think your design would profit from a more accentuated use of colors.
What might already help is toning down some colors (e.g. the background color).
Saturated colors on non-saturated backgrounds mostly look good, when their hues match or when they are complementary.

Using saturated text on a saturated background is problematic. Better to use white text then, or saturated text on non-saturated background.

Using multiple saturated colors in an app for kids is great, but it always needs an unsaturated part, mostly the background. You can have a look at some well-designed interfaces for kids here:

Really cool that you built an app for your kid! 👍

Thanks very much for the feedback, Tim. I'll look into the mix of saturated and unsaturated colours.
