Telling my story as a developer without a degree got me my first newsletter subscribers

I started a newsletter for a product I'm developing .

One of the ways I'm interested in generating interest in the project is by building a newsletter. I thought I could leverage my unique story as a software engineer without a degree in order to generate some traffic to my newsletter and it actually worked!

I looked around and thought of places that would be interested in hearing my story. I'm a software engineer without a degree, so naturally, I hit up Pete from nocsdegree.com (@petecodes here on IH) and pitched my story to him.

The process was pretty easy. He was interested in my story, and sent me a google doc. I filled out the interview and plugged my newsletter.

It went live yesterday and I've gained 16 subscribers since! Not a ton but it feels like a good win for little effort.

I also had some nice folks reach out on LinkedIn that connected with my story so that was a good feeling.

So far, sharing my story in public has been nothing but a positive experience :)

Hi Kenneth, you have a very good story.

I'm now developing a website https://icannowcode.com for self-taught developers to list their profiles. I would love to have you listed on the site when it's launched. Please let me know how I could contact you.

Hey, thanks a lot :) Hope to eventually get enough data to turn this into a book.
