Testimonials as a service, what do you think?

New services or products is lack of trust.
What if, you can get testimonials for fast and cheap and then build trust to your target customers?

Here's How it works:
What will you provide?

  1. You provide free one-time service or free x-months access to the founders/makers
  2. Founders/makers will use your products/services and give you a testimonials

What will you get?

  1. You collect testimonials and put it on your website and then Create client list or case study. --> Gain Trust
  2. Founders/makers get free products (and discount, if you give them one) --> Free product/service

Side-effect:

  1. For you: If the founders/makers love your product, probably they will continue to use your product and/or promote your product/service to their colleagues --> word of mouth
  2. For Founders/makers: If in the future your products/services is growing, they will affect too, because their website/business is in your homepage or case study pages --> backlink/brand mention

What do you think? Let's discuss!

I only want to put good testimonials on my site.

If they're giving my bad testimonials, I've got nothing I can use and your service hasn't brought me any value.

If they're giving me good testimonials, I've got no idea whether they're genuine. I'd have to assume they're not, in which case I might as well just make them up myself and I don't need your service.

Testimonials come from genuine user feedback. If you build a community of founders/makers that are genuinely interested in discovering new products and won't just give good feedback for the sake of it, you've addressed a much harder (and thus more valuable) problem.

Maybe charging the Founders/Makers a fee (think Amazon Prime) that'll let them have unlimited access to a pool of products? If you get people who will pay (even a little) the reviews would probably be more genuine.

Maybe if you can track your users usage, your site could be one of the providers of testimonials? If your site built enough authority then your rating (based on user usage) could be a "trust badge" of sorts. "This product earned a 91 on www.Testimonly.com" with a link to user stats.

Just my thoughts. I like the idea but genuine results will be hard :)

Wow thanks for this reply did not see it because you did not reply me directly but this does make sense a lot of sense, it transform the site into a sort of first users feedback generator for the submitted products, and provides a badge of trust to leads on their site that their testimonials are legit, while providing a pool of potential early users for the products.

I think the concept of TaaS could definitely work and can be incorporated into wider review marketing activities too

The problem with your model is that you're targetting typical freemium customers who are the worst type if there is any expectation for them to become paying customers down the line and it implies that the problem is that you don't have existing testimonials because nobody is using your product

If as a user, I don't have a good product and I rely on your service to generate testimonials, they might be human-generated but they're not going to be true organic testimonials. At that point, I might as well just ask my family and friends for an honest review.

I think you should conisder focussing on facilitating testimonials from existing happy customers. There are a huge number of businesses who appreciate the value of positive testimonials and reviews but have resistance to actually asking for them. There's definitely a gap for a service that makes this process simple if you can innovate on the existing SaaS options.

What do you think of the service I am trying to provide at www.testimonly.com

I think you should probably start a separate thread of your own and I'll give you my feedback on that

I have this need. I think this is a good (albeit niche) idea.

I manage several large web apps yet getting testimonials is hard, users just cbf giving them (I’ve asked).

I’d be happy to be your customer if you could manage this for me.

What pain point is this solution solving? What do you think?

Where does your business come in?

Do you charge people for access to a group of early adopters/founders? Right now, anyone can give something away for free in exchange for a potential testimonial.
