Testing cold email marketing

I've spent the past 3 months building one of the first Themes on HubSpot CMS.

Now I will test cold email marketing as a means of generating awareness of my
product listing HubSpot's Asset Marketplace and getting more installs.

The approach:

I've created a list of every agency who actively sells the HubSpot software to their clients as many of these agencies also need help building their client's websites on HubSpot's CMS.

Themes, a relatively new feature of HubSpot CMS, enables agencies to build their client's websites without needing to rely on a developer.

Create an email list:

I've hired an UpWorker to find the emails, names and other relevant contact info of the decision makers at these companies. They're working on my list as I type and will deliver it to me on Monday the 13th.

Create email campaign

I'm using MailShake to create and schedule my email campaigns - Why MailShake? They won me over with their plethora of cold email education which helped me tremendously as I was learning all of this; Inbound marketing at its finest.

I will schedule a 5-part email sequence to go out to each contact on my list every 5 days, sending no more than 25 emails per day to avoid getting spam flagged - (there are ways to send more which are outside the scope of this post)

Each email will be text only, use first name personalization, be easily scannable containing no more than 3-4 short sentences, the last sentence will be a call-to-action.

The cool thing about cold email is that if you're clear on your buyer personas, build a good list and adhere to email copywriting best practices, you should be able to just turn on the machine and wait for leads to appear in your inbox

Will keep you all posted on the results

    @daveroma definitely worth trying!

Wondering how big is your email list plus what tools are you using? I've tested woodpecker and thinking to get a proper paid plan. The tests went well, showed potential but to continue the database should be a minimum 10'000 personalized mails which are huge work if you do it manually.

Keep on going and good luck! Happy to hear the results.

My email list contains 3,000 contacts. I used NeverBounce to clean/scrub the list for potential bounces and I'm using MailShake to handle the email automation.

Thanks for the post. If you think the quality of your upworker is good, would you mind recommending him/her to us (or me)?

I've discovered that the results may vary with simple outsourced jobs and haven't searched for an "virtual inside sales" (which I think this qualifies as) but I'm planning to. Having a headstart on weeding out disappointing ones would save a bit of time/money.
