Hi,
This is my first post on Indiehackers.
I often mind-maps to organise my thoughts. I find them a natural structure to put thoughts as it intuitively feels it's similar to how brain works (one thought originating from another) . I currently use mindly on ipad to make these maps.
One thing I would love is to create mind-maps while typing in text. That is, generate mindmap without taking hands off the keyboard. This is because the act of creating new nodes and dragging it around feels like a break of flow while I'm in the thought generating process.
I'm envisioning a framework which would seamlessly let you create mind-maps while you type. This would involve an easy syntax and augmented tool that would help you.
There are majorly two things to it:
I'm a data-scientist and have little experience in product building. I'm looking for validation of this idea, and any thoughts on how to go about building it. Especially the stack that would best fit the process.
Thanks for reading!
Cool idea, I think the input would be a great improvement over existing solutions although personally don’t mind map that much but there might be a market.
Have you used Microsoft powerpoints smart art tool. If not try it. You basically type hierarchical bullet points and it generates different types of graphs/ relational flows etc. It’s really quite cool.
I don’t see why the same hierarchical approach wouldn’t work for Mindmaps.
Also I wonder if there is space for suggestions, using word association / gpt3 / some datasets for suggesting possible nodes.
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, powerpoint smartart tool is nice.
I also found this: https://playground.diagram.codes/d/mind-map . They use a syntactic language to generate mindmaps.
I'm more interested in generating it from natural language. Like typing text in a notepad and letting it onto a mind map structure.
Suggesting possible nodes is a good idea. I can think of it as AI augmented brainstorming.
