Textideo: Building a One-Stop AI Pipeline for Script-to-Movie Generation

Over the past year, text-to-video models have made huge progress — from generating short clips based on simple prompts to handling complex scenes with multi-shot continuity. But in practice, one of the biggest bottlenecks is workflow fragmentation: creators often need to bounce between different tools for script writing, scene design, video generation, and final export.

At Textideo, we’ve been working on removing that friction. Today, I’m excited to share two new components we’ve recently launched:

  • AI Script Generator – a tool to generate structured movie prompts, storyboards, and scene breakdowns.
  • AI Movie Generator – a one-stop pipeline to transform scripts into coherent video outputs, then combine and export them as final movies.

Together, they form a streamlined script-to-movie workflow for creators, filmmakers, and indie developers.

1. Why a Script Generator Matters

Most AI video models (like Veo, WAN, Nanobanana ,or Hailo) still rely on flat prompts — a few descriptive sentences that often produce short but disconnected clips. For real storytelling, we need more than that.

This is where the AI Script Generator comes in. Instead of writing raw prompts, users can generate:

  • Story outlines → e.g., act structure, character arcs.
  • Scene breakdowns → e.g., "Scene 1: urban rooftop at dusk, wide shot"; "Scene 2: close-up, dialogue under neon lights."
  • Camera & style cues → cinematic directions like pan, zoom, dolly, or lighting references.

A typical script output might look like this:

In other words, it’s not just prompt generation — it’s semantic scaffolding for video models. By providing a structured format, the generated clips align better across scenes and maintain narrative consistency.

2. From Script to Movie

Once a script is ready, it flows into the AI Movie Generator. This component is essentially a multi-scene rendering engine built on top of several state-of-the-art video models.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Scene Parsing – The system parses the script into discrete video segments, each with its own prompt context.
  2. Model Selection – Depending on style (realistic, cinematic, anime, abstract), it routes to the best-fit backend model.
  3. Clip Generation – Each segment is generated in parallel, with metadata stored for continuity.
  4. Assembly & Export – All clips are stitched together, with transitions, audio placeholders, and timeline metadata exported in standard formats (MP4 + JSON).

This makes Textideo less of a “video toy” and more of a production workflow tool — something closer to a pipeline than a prompt-playground.

3. Technical Considerations

We designed this system around three principles:

  • Interoperability – The script output is JSON-structured, making it easy to feed into different video models or external editing tools.
  • Scalability – Scene rendering runs in parallel containers, reducing generation time for longer scripts.
  • Flexibility – Users can edit the script at any point (e.g., swapping camera directions) before final rendering.

On the backend, this is achieved with:

  • Prompt normalization – ensuring consistent formatting for model inputs.
  • Scene embedding vectors – to maintain visual coherence across clips.
  • Timeline synchronization – aligning scene length and transitions for seamless playback.

4. Why It Matters for Indie Hackers

For indie creators, the value is clear:

  • Rapid prototyping – test story ideas by generating draft videos in minutes.
  • Cost efficiency – no need for separate subscriptions to script generators, video models, and editing software.
  • One-stop export – structured script + generated video + metadata = a ready-to-edit package.

Think of it as Figma for video storytelling — where ideation, prototyping, and production live in one ecosystem.

5. What’s Next

We’re continuing to refine the stack. Upcoming iterations will include:

  • Character consistency across scenes (via embedding persistence).
  • AI-assisted editing (e.g., automatically trimming redundant frames).
  • Soundtrack and voice integration for end-to-end movie creation.

Our goal is to make Textideo not just a video generation tool, but a creative operating system for indie storytellers.
