Back to @ItsSteve. He's already knocked down two-thirds of his epic!

    1. 2

Yeah, that enrollment page is going to be done any day now!

      1. 1

        (Laughing!) That's the hope!

    2. 2

Hey Harlem! So I'm a little out of the loop, but is all of this for your hairstyle course site which was doing very well last I checked?

      1. 1

(Smiling) Not exactly styling. More like manufacturing. And yep. Putting together my first evergreen funnel for a first launch this September! It's a shit ton of work!

  2. 3

01 - soft launch: Have the base library, documentation (both manual and API), and build tools publically accessible. Have license terms and sales flow (either contact or direct payment gateway) on the site.

    02 -

done: Weekly sync. Down prioritized some GUI features. Not much else - off day.

03 - Goal today is a continuation of yesterdays: add all build configuration that is not optional into SBT plugin.

04 - kudos to @aliakhtar completing the move to a new backend. Tho I wonder which?

    05 - tho it's boring - https://gitlab.com/glngn/sbt-glngn/commits/master

Hey man - I moved from Akka HTTP to Play. I just looked at your project, it looks like you also work with Scala? I couldn't figure out what your project does from the readme.

      1. 1

Oh cool! I'm also working with Akka HTTP. Tho only to a limited degree. I've used Play in the past to good success.

I'm also working with scala. My project isn't public yet tho: that repo is the sbt support for using the framework. Similar to the play sbt PlayScala plugin. The project includes an extension API that plugin is going to target. The full thing is an application with extension API for building business operations services.

        1. 1

Haha, I didn't expect to meet any other scala devs on here. I have a slack team linked in my profile, you should consider joining! So are you building an new web framework?

          1. 1

Neither did I! How cool! :D I'll join the slack.

I'm trying to not build another web framework haha. Sure seems like it at times tho.

  3. 3

    01 Get some customers
02 Read more about traction, made some revisions to the website's backend. There is now an automatic welcome email from me when people sign up.
03 Today I've reached out to imgur regarding an ad campaign and I've added a new reddit ad. I've also created a pricing survey on reddit.com/r/samplesize in order to figure out if I'm priced too high.

@nlowell From your site, I'm not clear who exactly this is for and why it will make a difference in their life. Why do I want automatically organized photos?

Is this for people who work with tons of photos? Maybe location managers, wedding photographers, or something like that? I would focus on one particular use case of your product and really target that use case to start with, and show them how much it will improve their life to use your product, which isn't super clear (at least for me) at the moment.

      1. 2

Hi Keith. The target market is people who browse the internet and save images often. I've done a market validation survey to confirm that there's a significant chunk of internet users who save images all the time as they browse. This group of people is mostly organizing folders manually. The product provides the simple convenience of converting an operation ("save image as") from many clicks per image to just 2 or 3. For people who are doing this many, many times per day, it brings value. I'm still experimenting with ad copy and pricing and channels and such. If this market turns out to be too expensive to reach or has other issues, I may consider selling a more professionally-oriented package to photographers like you mentioned.

        1. 2

Gotcha, sounds like you've done some homework there. Hopefully you can find that sweet product/market fit.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I think one of things you have to do is just test a bunch of different ad venues. I've put ~$100 into reddit, twitter, and google and so far reddit has had the best performance. The ads are getting people onto the site at what appears to be a decent cost, but I think the prices might just be too high for them to stay. Redditors are basically my target market though which might explain why the ads are doing decently.

        1. 2

interesting I may have to expand to reddit and see what kind of results I get

    Heyyy people!

Epic: Launch Naminator, Bianna, Dating site by end of 2019.

    Last few days:

Finally finished moving Naminator's backend to a different web framework + db - now I'm working on integrating the cool new filters / UI controls which my cofounder designed (can be seen on the results page , https://naminator.io/#/results/heartbeat-5d289149bb042c04557ac98f-1 - currently placeholders)

Also, irrelevant, but I spent way longer than I should've, helping a friend trap someone who scammed him. Haha.

    Tomorrow:

Work on integrating the static UI controls / the backend so we can finally launch!

    WIP: https://naminator.io

    1. 2

What backend framework did you move to?

    2. 2

Always feels good to complete a dev milestone like that kind of tool migration! Do you have an epic for July specifically?

    3. 1

So close! So close! Have you started your genius idea re partnering with Start Up School?

    Epic

    Add eBay support to AZLabels

    Yesterday

(I'm taking Fridays off this month, so by yesterday I mean Thursday)

    • Writer finished an article, did a few edits and added photos, then sent to Nikki for posting and promotion next week
    • Asked Nikki to put together a promotion for Prime Day
    • Received a bug report from a user, did some testing and asked for additional information
    • I was planning on working on the big picture of CollectTrust, but got stuck in the weeds when I pulled up my local copy of the code to make sure all the tests were passing. There is one that wasn't, and that led to upgrading from Laravel 5.6 → 5.8 which sucked up all my time. Whoops.
    • A user agreed to be a test user for eBay; waiting for their account access.

    Today

    • All tests passing on CollectTrust
    • Get click tracking working on CollectTrust
    • Upgrade notifications are not working properly on AZLabels. Create a new landing page notifying users they are out of labels and giving them upgrade options.

    Stuck

    • Still struggling with the overall marketing plan for AZLabels. Thinking about something I read from Rocketship Agency about top-of-funnel, middle-of-funnel, and bottom-of-funnel content. Wondering how that applies to a niche service like AZLabels. If anyone has advice/experience in that area, would love to hear it.

For a second I panicked and thought I broached some sort of confidentiality! Here's a link to the initiative.

And honestly, are you glued to that name? (Smiling) I might be able to help you brainstorm something better!

      1. 1

I'm not, I would love to do some brainstorming though

    2. 1

LOVE that new hero image. Question for you... (and how do I put this gently) have you ever thought about partnering with someone for design/UX? You've got such a great idea and I can't help but wonder if the lack of spit and polish is holding you back.

      1. 1

hahaha I've got tough skin just tell me how it is lol. Is it ok that the hero image doesnt have much todo with the site, besides looking good? I am going to start looking for a partner. A Designer would be a good idea, since its hard for me to get the details right. I'm doing yc's startup school so maybe I can find someone there. In the bay area while theres lots of people most dont want to take the risk of a startup, but I'm going to keep looking!
