Thank you Indie Hackers for the book Working in Public

@rosiesherry asked to share a story of a community we love to win a copy of Nadia Eghbal's book Working in Public: The Making and Maintenance of Open Source Software.

I had no doubt at all, the community I loved most was Google+. I posted a hertfelt note on why I loved the platform and mentioned the role of the tech press in its demise. Google+ is a cautionary tale of how a media-driven narrative can irreversibly sink the reputation of your product, no matter whether there's merit or how large your company is.

As the photo shows, my entry was among the ones Rosie selected and I've just got my copy of the book. Thank you Rosie and Indie Hackers!

The book interests me for a number of reasons. I have been using open-source software for decades and directly contributed to a few projects, having started a couple tiny ones myself.

Another reason is I try to work in public whenever possible. My blog is the main channel through which I share my experience and I plan to publish more on my work. I don't know whether my experience is useful to others, it certainly is to me as a way of recording my working notes and thoughts and referencing them when needed.
