I have been working on a product for almost 3 months now after I realized last year that a feature I built for a client could be a SaaS in itself. This is going to be my 3rd (?) micro-startup that will actually go beyond the ideation stage. This is also going to be my 1st micro-startup which relies entirely on subscription revenue.
My aim is to document as much of this journey here on IH as I possibly can. I really enjoy this community, and would like give as much as possible and also get feedback in the process.
I plan on launching (more like "publicly revealing") the beta in the next 2 weeks.
During my research in the last month or so, I actually found that an IndieHacker is working on a very similar product and I wish I had found it last year, I would have never needed to build the actual thing in the first place. I really hope to learn a lot from him and give back just as much!
Hoping for the best! 🤞
Edit: Didn't launch.
I know your feeling with finding out someone else is doing the same thing. I have those feelings too and I have talked about them on here quite a lot. If there is something I have learned it is that competition is more of a positive than a negative since competition means there is a market for it out there and you are not the only one that thought that it’s a problem people have that needs solving.
I agree with your thought that the community here is AWESOME 😎 and I have gotten so much feedback and lessons/tips from people completely for free that if the place would have been any other than this I most likely would have been forced to pay for.
On here it doesn’t really matter if you are making 100k per month or $0 per month, you get treated the same and people just want to help each other out.
I TOTALLY agree with you. IH is the reason I didn't stop working on the product (esp since >80% of the product was ready when I discovered the competition), and I'm sure some of the comments I read were from you!
go for it @akshatmittal!
Wishing you the best for your launch Akshat. You seem to have the right mindset for getting things in order and leading to a successful launch. The IH community will always have your back. Good luck.
Thanks Akshay!
