"I actually had a job offer that was expiring that Friday but I didn't have anything to do Thursday afternoon so, why not? I met a guy named Josh for coffee. I actually showed up saying, 'It's great to meet you but I have a job lined up that I really like, they're even taking care of my green card. Maybe we can work together in two years.' So, he didn't try to pitch me but we talked about his idea and other things. He had been a philosophy major and I used to write about it so we bonded over that. And after a few hours, he offered me a 50/50 partnership right there. That surprised me — usually, people who have been working on an idea for a few months will be greedy and try for 70/30 or something. The fact that he offered me that showed a great level of maturity and long-term thinking. After three hours I was like, 'Let me think about it and I'll give you a final answer in the morning.' But I already had a very strong feeling that I would say yes. So, I literally decided to go from a very comfortable, pretty well-paid position to being a founder with no revenue, living off my savings, in about three hours. That was a pretty decisive moment in my life. Seven years later, I'm very happy with what I'm doing."⠀
