🤯 The 5 most influential people along my Indie Startup journey

For the last 6 months I’ve been working full-time to bootstrap my app Fitloop, an app for people learning bodyweight fitness / calisthenics workouts. I recently crossed $1,000/month MRR and already on my way to pass $2,000 in December.

Along the way, maintaining morale and staying on the right path has been made possible by finding the right communities and maintaining the right mindset.

Here are the people who shifted my mind the most:

🌎 Possibilities — Pieter Levels (@levelsio)
🧠 Brains — Paul Graham (@paulg)
💪 Guts — Casey Neistat (@casey)
👨🏽‍🎨 Skill — Andreas Illiger (@AndreasIlliger)
💰 Proof — YNAB (@ynab)

🌎 Possibilities — Pieter Levels (@levelsio)

Following Pieter’s journey from quitting his concept of life, moving across the world to pursue his own web projects was exciting and eye-opening. I resonated with his way of thinking (https://levels.io/reset-your-life/).

🧠 Brains — Paul Graham (@paulg)

Though PG is a VC founder (#IndieHackers are bootstrapped projects) PG’s essays (paulgraham.com/articles.html) were an invaluable insight into startups: An amazing source of product and growth thinking.

💪 Guts — Casey Neistat (@Casey)

Inspiration to many for his work ethic, productivity, and enthusiasm about doing more things, @Casey was a huge inspiration for his entrepreneurial streak. His constant pursuit of creativity and life pursuit always motivated me.

👨🏽‍🎨 Skill — Andreas Illiger (@AndreasIlliger )

I remember playing Tiny Birds on the iPhone, and being amazing that such a quality game was designed, developed by 1 person. The Artwork, the code, and the music. This really pushed my idea of what one person can achieve.

💰 Proof — YNAB (@ynab)
On a similar note, finding out that such a loved and successful budgeting software was bootstrapped as a small family business was proof that it can be done without VC money (https://www.youneedabudget.com/about-us/)

My Indie Startup: I’m making Fitloop (https://www.indiehackers.com/product/fitloop), an app for learning & tracking bodyweight fitness workouts. What makes it different is that it’s build upon functional fitness progressions. Level up & learn cool new skills while you get better in shape :)
