The 5 Things That Broke in My First Week of Beta (And How We Fixed Them)

Beta launched. 45 users. Chaos ensued.

Here's what broke—and how we fixed it.

1. Evening insight timed out (504 error)
   Users waited 30 seconds... then nothing.
   Fix: Increased function timeout + added retry UI with a "Try Again" button.

2. RLS errors on insight save
   Auth.uid() was null in some edge cases. Insights disappeared.
   Fix: Added fallback API route using service role. Now saves even when auth fails.

3. Tour stopped advancing past step 2
   Users were stuck in onboarding purgatory.
   Fix: Fixed Joyride controlled mode + proper scroll handling.

4. Coral dot haunted users after tour
   The little indicator stayed forever. Creepy.
   Fix: Added proper cleanup + portal nuke on tour end.

5. N+1 API calls on morning page
   Still in Code April. But we see it. We're coming for it.

Bonus: Service worker redirect error
Affects Huawei users. Still investigating. If you've debugged this, I'd love to hear how.
