The Ability to UnLearn

I am a seeker, i seek knowledge and experience in any form i can get. I don't think twice jumping on a topic to learn about it, as long as it excites me. I don't think too much about its value to me in terms of monetray benefit, earning more clients or getting a better per hour rate while i coach people. I think about this as a way to connect to great minds, and even greater learning experiences.

Over so many years from my days at the IBAB[https://www.ibab.ac.in/] where we were encouraged to explore, to my only job at CresTech[http://crestechglobal.com/] , where i used to eat head of my mentor Pankaj, to give me 'different' projects, i have realized my quench for knowledge is still not complete and thats the idea isnt it. But is it really possible to hold so much information, come with a biased mindset, be defensive and too protective about the 'self' when you are in a phase of seeking.

The answer to the above statement is 'NO'. One cannot fill water into a full pot, there needs to be space to fill in water from a new stream you have come across. Who knows whether that stream was of fresh hill waters enriching you, or from a unkempt well, thus cautioning you not to go there. Until you are open to the idea of experiencing, and have created a space in your mind about it, knowledge doesn't seep in, and progress isn't made.

Unlearning is not easy, because it is associated with SELF, EGO is how you should read it. Only the one who has the virtue of humbleness, has the ability to unlearn. This year specially this year of pandemics has changed in more than one way we work, value our resources, health and family. Physical boundaries have been shunned, and virtual world has now become a reality for most of us.

In times like this, the most impacted population - children, their reslience if you can see, learn from them. If you can see the pain of of someone who lost their business or job but is still finding their ways to upskill and find work, learn from them. If you can see the pain of the new found heroes in white coats and how they and their families dealt and are dealing with pandemic learn from them. The ability to obeserve and find people who can teach us in more than one way is not limited to a few. We all have it, so before that dies away save it for your own good.

As for me, i am still in process of letting go all the limited knowledge of testing i had, automation i had, bdd i had to look into all this with fresh new eyes. And i will be honest the process is very painful but at the same time exhilarating. But to become the one you dream of, you inspire to be, the process of unlearning is crucial. The process of continous learning is crucial.

And only then, MAGIC starts happening :) Trust me, i have seen it and felt it, so will you.
