The beginning of my nano-SaaS journey

Hi there!
I've been on IH for a while now and tried my hand at a few SaaS products over the years. The one problem I have with all of them is: how do I spread the word?

As a developer, building is easy, but that's where I stop. I'll build a really cool product with incredible technology and solid UI, but the day it's built... I stop.

Why?

Because marketing is hard. I know what to do, but doing it is.. hard. Going to the various communities (IH, Reddit, ProductHunt, etc) is all just so... daunting.

To solve that, I'm working on a new nano-SaaS that will help makers find, post and track their engagement. Specifically, you tell it what sort of community you're looking for and it'll suggest 3-5 communities for you to post to.

Then the game begins. You'll be on track to post 3-5 times to each community (could be a sub-reddit, forum, LinkedIn Group, etc) and post the link into the nano-SaaS. With a bit of gamification, hopefully, you'll be able to consistently post to various communities WHILE providing value to those communities.

What do you think? Something I should build?

How would such a product get past this?

I know what to do, but doing it is.. hard.

You even said you already know the communities you should post in to:

Going to the various communities (IH, Reddit, ProductHunt, etc)

So is this a gamified to-do list then, with a focus on outreach somehow?

it'll suggest 3-5 communities for you to post to.

Does it somehow match you with extremely specific Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, Instagram influencers, subreddits, online forums and mailing lists, etc.? Does it also filter out those that are run by a single commercial entity, have strict non-promotion rules, are basically just meme-machines, have a very small audience (like 5 people), or lack any real engagement between the members (just 1-2 people posting with few comments/responses from others). Improving this discovery process would be somewhat valuable and time-saving.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. Half the struggle of "doing it" is finding the appropriate forums, communities, etc. If my product can at least make a "gamified to do list," it will solve that part of it.

Over time, yes, it'll filter out the nonsense places and surface the highly specific ones. At first, it's more of an accountability mechanism to keep you posting regularly.

It sounds like you'd find value in the discovery process more than the accountability process - is that right?

Are there other features/benefits that you'd like to see in a tool like this?

This is a great idea! I'm in a similar boat - love to build the product but selling it is something I dread.

What tangible steps can my product provide to help you make the selling part easier?
