The browser I paid for shut down, so I built the part I could not replace
Sidekick closed and the containers went with it. SpaceDeck is what I put in its place.
Sidekick was the browser I paid for and used every day, and then it shut down.
What I lost with it was the containers. Every app had its own cookies, so three Gmail accounts stayed signed in at once and none of them knew about the others. After it closed I went back to browser profiles and separate windows, and to logging out of one account to read mail in another, which I had not done in years. Nobody was going to build the replacement. So I did.
SpaceDeck gives every web app its own space and its own container, one keystroke away, and rings one bell for all of them.
There's also a terminal. Command J opens your login shell next to the app, in whatever folder that app belongs to, with your own zsh and dotfiles. I leave an agent running in there and go answer mail. The rail tells me when it wants me back.
