The "Builder's Trap": Why I spent 90% of my time on logic and 0% on users.

I’ve been stuck in the ultimate indie hacker loop.

I’m building an AI Math Solver for macOS. I spent weeks obsessing over the "Step-by-Step Logic Reconstruction"—a feature that breaks down complex equations into transparent, procedural steps instead of just giving a "Black Box" answer. I wanted it to be a 24/7 tutor that actually teaches.

The Reality Check: The logic is solid. The macOS build is snappy. But my user count isn't moving because I’ve been building in a vacuum. I treated the tech like a sprint and the marketing like an afterthought.

The Pivot: Today, I’m stepping out of the code editor. I’m focusing on Distribution First.

  • The Goal: Finding that "unlock" where people value the learning over the quick answer.

  • The Mission: Turning "I don't get this" into "Aha! Now I see the logic".

I’m currently refining the early build on my MacBook. I’d love to hear from other EdTech founders: How do you convince users that the "hard way" (learning the logic) is actually the "better way"?
