The Changing Role of Software Engineers – the Pragmatic CS Vision

Everyone from bankers and lawyers to management consultants are learning how to code. Then there's the "no code" movement, and even RNN-CNN models writing front-end code from screenshots.

Being able to build a CRUD app, putting the coolest APIs together or even learning all the newest shiny frameworks isn’t enough.

I started the Pragmatic CS newsletter as I set out on a journey of becoming a more senior developer.

Here's what you can expect from me:

  • interviews with CTOs and Tech Leads on the latest computer science developments that excite them and what they are learning
  • summaries from the latest noteworthy CS research papers and articles
  • exclusive previews of in-depth, actionable feature articles I write on CS topics like:
    • Performance engineering
    • Scaling
    • Web security
    • Data engineering
    • Machine learning
    • Natural language processing
    • Recommender systems
    • Compilers
    • Distributed Systems

I am doing this to learn deeply, so there's no hype – pure value-laden insights we can all act on together.

Join me on this journey of personal growth as a software engineer together!
