🚀 The Daily Growth Hack #1 - How to get 200k Subscribers with a Waiting List

Hi Indie Hackers,
I am Marco (@MarcoGurnari on Twitter) and I love to help other makers and new entrepreneurs directly using this platform.

Today I would start a 30 Days Path with daily Growth Hacks to boost the number of your subscribers or, better, customers. If I will notice an interest by the community, through upvotes and comments, I will be happy to continue this series 🤙

🥁 And now we can start, the first Growth Hack is ...

The Waiting List (with steroids)

The waiting list is not a news in the growth hacking world, but it's important to know how to do it because it is not a kind of magic that works every time and without a strategy before ⚗️

🤑 Case Studies

Before going forward, here I can list some interesting Case Study that can show you the power of this strategy:

  • Robinhood, an investment app that collected almost 1M subscribers before the launch
  • Monzo, another app that reached 200k subscribers in its waiting list (the title of this post is clearly inspired by their success)

👨‍🏫 How you should use it

The waiting list could be perfect in two cases:
1️⃣ Your product/service is not ready but you want to collect leads (good boy)
2️⃣ Your product/service is **ready ** but you want to use it as a marketing strategy

In the first case remember to use the viral effect, using tools that allow you to offer particular bonuses and benefits for your subscribers. In this way, you can really make the system viral, transforming a simple mailing list in a lead generation machine.

The second case is not so common, but it could produce amazing results, using the same marketing principles of the previous scenario.
An example of this strategy was used during the launch of Maitreapp (now it is called ReferralHero) during the Product Hunt launch, creating a waiting list to receive a free product to the first users of the list every day.

In this case, the product was ready, but the company was able to generate an amazing number of leads that would be impossible otherwise.

⚒️ Products to use

Ok, creating a waiting list is really simple using all the tools for newsletters (Mailchimp, ConvertKit and so on), but we are speaking about Growth Hacking and we want a Waiting List with Steroids.

In order to do that, I suggest one of these tools:

Conclusions

At this point, I think that you have enough information to start considering your Waiting List, but ...
**There are so many other growth hacks ** related to this strategy and other ones and for this reason I am building The 4 Weeks Growth Hacking Program and I am happy to give to all the indie hackers a 70% discount before the official launch 😉

Did you like it?
