The exit changed our lives, and the pain was worth it, but I’m doing things differently this time.

Nice to meet you all! I’ve been waiting years for this moment. Here’s why:

I founded a SaaS company in 2016 and successfully sold it in 2021.

I built a complex data product in a new market. I pivoted multiple times, burned out, raised VC money several times, learned to sell to enterprises even though I hated it, and managed to keep every single engineer who started with me until the very end (they still work for the acquirer).

After the second year of building the business, I realized I had made a massive mistake. I took VC funding (I’ll share more about this in future posts)

Since then, I have secretly wanted to build a bootstrapped company and be an Indiehacker. At the time, I had to play the VC game to win, but it made me miserable.

I often would cope with stress by telling myself that I needed to focus and get it done because this experience would make me stronger for my next company.

Everything that happened during the 7 years spent building the business has been a lesson I will never forget.

The product we built is thriving and growing in its new home, it got the best software award by G2 Crowd this year, and I have even seen people put the product's name on their LinkedIn profile as an expertise/skill. I’m proud of that.
