The free tool I shipped in a week just out-converted my paid ads
Quick milestone from my scheduling product. I shipped a free Blog to Social Post Generator: paste a blog post, pick a platform (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, or Facebook), get three ready-to-publish social posts with different angles. No login.
It got its first tracked signup within a day of going live. Meanwhile my paid search campaigns are paused, and the free-tools funnel has quietly become my best acquisition channel: this month it's producing paying signups at exactly $0 CAC while the ad account sits dark.
The playbook I've settled on: build a small tool that solves one honest chore (repurposing was mine, since my own blog posts kept dying unshared), give it away without a signup wall, stamp the traffic source so you can actually attribute it, and pair it with a blog post targeting the same search intent. The tool does the ranking AND the converting.
Decisions that mattered: three output posts instead of one (an article contains more than one post), and a hard rule that it only uses facts from the pasted text, because an invented statistic in your own social post is a trust killer.
