Imagine how you would solve the problem of designing the front page for a website that does ALL of the following:
- Create a directory of all stores selling on the web
- Link to all sites with information about people on the web
- Provide access to a definition for every word in the dictionary
- Share every picture of every pet ever posted on the web
The complexity is astounding. Every design I could think of would be so confusingโฆ
And yet, we get this:
And the mission statement for the company that uses this simple front end UI is:
to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful
Did you get that? โAll of the worldโs informationโ!
Somehow Google has created an incredibly simple frontend UI and has never bowed to the pressure to complicate their design.
I just think itโs worth remembering how incredibly brilliant this accomplishment is.
Sometimes I just like to remind myself of this because it inspires me.
