How much time do artists spend thinking about how to reach out to audiences. They spend more time thinking about content to post on socials than creating new songs.
And the truth is that is exactly the problem. That’s is what they are missing.
Let’s agree that there are a lot of problems in the Music industry.
But the biggest problem is not getting paid more per play, or that you don’t sell Non Fungible Tokens. The problem is that not enough people are buying your art. Tickets, merchandise, songs… it doesn’t matter the format, but artists don’t have enough fan community around them.
Not because they don’t have good tracks, but because there’s no relationship between artists and fans.
Consumers are falling in love with tracks that they forget the next day. In fact, the industry is betting on artists based on the success of one track.
There’s a big difference between making a song hit than creating a hit song.
The one thing we should learn from this creator economy we live in is the importance of a strong community. Not in size, but in love. If you get 100 consumers to fall in love with your vision/mission, suddenly you become a full-time creator—someone who spends your life creating, thanks to the support of the community of fans.
And thanks to this new economy, consumers perfectly understand that. We, as consumers, are looking for ways to support our creators.
Let’s focus on engaging with the true fans on a deeper level. Let’s get intimate with them. Let’s get to the most vulnerable place an artist can be; In their creation process.
Let’s build a channel in which fans and artists engage during the process in which the art is being made. Give fans access. Let them listen to the work even before you call it art. Let them interact with it and ask questions to them. Develop tools around these engagements for artists to learn and gain from those relationships with the fans and fans to be so involved in the process that they feel it is their own.
That’s where the industry needs to focus on. Platforms where consumers become superfans. Platforms that help artists build and grow strong fan communities and where fans can fall in love with the artists, again.
Hey, I am an artist and can connect to the real problem. hence, i am building something for the same problem. Would definitely love to connect and explore synergies with you.
