The importance of tagline and tooltip in case of a marketplace

We force our registered freelancers to add valuable taglines to their Tasquitos profiles and we do this for a variety of reasons.

Our main concern is that the freelancer's profile is viewed by clients and hired for a project, since we also have revenue only when a client hires the freelancer.

The tagline is a short introduction to a freelancer's profile, which is the next most important thing to have after a great profile photo.

On top of that, the headline on freelancer's profile is in the h1 tag so it also adds some SEO value.

It was definitely our goal to get users to enter short, concise, attention-grabbing headlines.

We are also lucky in a way since our target users include copywriters and digital marketers, so they have a good chance of understanding the value of the tagline on their own.

In order to achieve this goal, we have limited each tagline to 60 characters in order to ensure short and concise text.

We chose to use exactly 60 characters because, according to a Semrush statistic, these texts perform best.

Lastly, we are using the following tagline tooltip: Keep it short, simple and descriptive.

And it works, here are some of our freelancer's taglines:

"Content Strategist, Marketing Specialist, Writer and Editor"

"Let's build your online business success together"

"Well-rounded writer and editor with B2B & SEO experience"

"Health, education and nonprofits writer"

"For when you're looking for the most loquacious headlines"

"SEO Consultant for B2B & eComm Companies"

"Copywriting For Small Businesses, Sole Traders, & Start-Ups"

"A Japanese writer in Los Angeles"
