I am building a "decentralized" creator monetization platform. Creators will deliver new content directly to a subscriber's email inbox and can use any free service (google drive, mega, youtube, etc.) to upload various types of content.
I had a patreon account a few years ago with about 30 paid subscribers and 200+ members, however I've noticed:
Patreon doesnt really bring in new members even if it's a marketplace.
I had to rely on marketing by myself on other channels (youtube, ig, twitter, etc.).
I was creating mod packs and always had external download links to my content (never used patreon's feed).
When patreon decided to close my account without proper reason, I had lost my entire audience. I created a ko-fi account but only a fraction of my original audience migrated.
Patreon's payouts systems suck!
Many of the alternatives had platform lock-in and found myself over-relying on platforms without any actual control over my audience.
I plan to address these flaws and many others.
