Dear community,
I want to reach out for an idea, something I have not done before. I am usually not the one to ask for help, but once I joined this community, I have read a lot of wonderful examples of how people communicate, share, and help.
Back in 2013 I have started a Ghost-blog hosting company as a side project called Phantomus. The project was built with early Docker release and I considered it as my first true SaaS, a failed one, but nevertheless. The project went, the company stayed, and since then I have worked on larger startups in pharma manufacturing and process optimization. Sidetracked a bit...sorry, to the point.
Odamae is a free contact form service which I have built in few days back around the same time to attract people to my hosting and it stands virtually unchanged for 6 years. At some point it had seen close to a thousand users, but as simple captcha solutions became available, it became far less useful and is barely used. The company that provided the captcha solution (emotionLoop) is no longer around, the domain is for sale, and Odamae stands still.
For those that might remember the movie Ghost, Odamae might ring a bell as it takes its origin from the name of Whoopi Goldberg’s character Oda Mae Brown, a medium between two worlds. Over the past several years I’ve had few ideas on how to utilize this name, from real-time communication tools similar to Intercom to no-code forms, but all of them required too much time and didn’t fit my schedule.
I want this name to live and to became a micro SaaS tool, but I don’t know which :) Obviously, it’s quite a bold question to ask this wonderful community to just give me an idea for a project and yet I am asking. The answer however will be accepted by me with great appreciation and in any form from “think yourself” to “let’s do it together”.
So, what should Odamae be? :)
I want to thank everyone in advance for reading this post. Also note, this is not a one-way street. If you would like to ask me something, share my ideas with you, or brainstorm on a startups, let me know and we can connect. I have been heads down the past several years building startups and have good amount of experience to share on any topic related to this.
